The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is the authoritative source for peer-reviewed scholarly open access journals with a global scope and list nearly 9.000 journals in all disciplines, published in 120 countries in more than 50 languages.

Mission of the DOAJ is to curate, maintain and develop a source with reliable information about  open access scholarly journals on the web; increase the visibility, dissemination, discoverability and attraction of open access journals and to enable scholars, libraries, universities, research funders and other stakeholders to benefit from the information and services provided; facilitate the integration of open access journals into library and aggregator services and assist, where possible, publishers and their journals to meet reasonable digital publishing standards.

DOAJ is entirely funded by the community (universities, research centers and sponsors).

DOAJ is managed by Infrastructure Services for Open Access C.I.C., a not-for-profit company with a mission to benefit research, higher education, industry, innovation, societies and the people by facilitating easy discovery of open access scholarly resources.

Sponsoring the Accelerating Science Award Program (ASAP) is perfectly in line with the mission of IS4OA and DOAJ:  to contribute to the transition of the system of scholarly communication and publishing into a model that serves science, innovation, societies and the people. We are very happy to sponsor this program and contribute to the recognition for authors who publish research in Open Access journals.
